Safety & Health Environment Manager – UAE Factories Full Time

Position Summary

Drive and promote excellence in safety, health, environmental sustainability, and security across the site or unit. The role is responsible for developing the Site/Unit SH&E OMP and ensuring its execution through the Nestlé S&H Management System (NSMS) and the Nestlé Environmental Management System (NEMS). It also provides leadership across the site or unit to help teams achieve their SH&E objectives and take pride in their performance.

The role is additionally responsible for clearly communicating relevant security programs and information to the on-site workforce, while ensuring the effective implementation of security requirements, guidelines, and best practices in day-to-day operations.

A Day in the Life

• Drive cultural change: Build strong awareness of Nestlé’s SH&E values and motivate stakeholders to go beyond compliance by continuously improving performance through NCE Foundations and Advanced Practices such as TPM and Lean Value Stream. Encourage a behaviour-based approach to SH&E guided by the Nestlé Leadership Framework.
• Develop strategy: Identify SH&E priorities, future risks, current challenges, and improvement opportunities at the site or unit level. Create a comprehensive strategy and implementation roadmap aligned with both market priorities and the overall site or unit OMP, while guiding communication and execution of that strategy.
• Implement NSMS and NEMS: Lead the implementation of NSMS, NEMS, and other Group SH&E standards. Strengthen and continuously improve site or unit SH&E programs to support compliance and performance gains. Ensure that local safety and health systems achieve certification to OHSAS 18001:2007 across all units, and ISO 14001:2004 for factories, PTCs, and distribution centres.
• Develop people: Ensure that teams receive the training and coaching needed to take ownership of SH&E responsibilities within their areas. Also provide direct coaching and support to the Site/Unit Management Team.
• Build SH&E networks: Establish and coordinate networks of SH&E professionals, champions, and subject matter experts across the site or unit. Strengthen both their technical and leadership capabilities and maintain strong succession plans for critical SH&E roles.
• Provide expert support: Make sure managers receive reliable guidance and support on SH&E matters. Identify effective practices and expertise from within Nestlé and outside the company, and share those learnings internally across the site, unit, and broader organization.
• Audit and review performance: Ensure regular audits are conducted to assess compliance and performance, and use the findings to drive continuous improvement. Promote clear communication of achievements and lessons learned, while recognizing strong contributors and successful performance.
• Maintain high security standards: Work under the direction of the responsible MSM to meet both short- and long-term security goals. Support the practical implementation of facility security measures based on findings from a site-specific security risk assessment carried out by the MSM.
• Oversee site security systems: Monitor, control, and maintain perimeter protection systems such as fencing and lighting, as well as modern security technologies including CCTV, motion detectors, and alarms. Also oversee access control for pedestrians, visitors, and vehicles, ensuring traceability of all relevant site movements.

What Will Make You Successful

• A first degree, typically in a technical discipline, along with NEBOSH S&H IGC or an equivalent qualification. For those pursuing a career in SH&E, NEBOSH Diplomas in Safety & Health and Environmental Management, or equivalent, are preferred.
• Proven ability to take ownership of SH&E and drive positive change through personal leadership.
• Experience analysing complex issues and identifying multiple root causes.
• Background in working with and leading cross-functional teams.
• Ability to convert policies and standards into practical action plans.
• Experience coaching individuals and teams in a variety of working environments.
