Commercial Sustainability Specialist Full Time

Responsibilities

Reporting to Group Sustainability, this role offers the opportunity to strengthen Vestas’ future competitiveness by turning sustainability into clear customer value, stronger tender submissions, and sharper market positioning across Northern and Central Europe.

Key responsibilities include:

• Integrate sustainability into NCE tenders and sales discussions, ensuring all customer-facing materials, data, and messaging reflect Vestas’ sustainability leadership.
• Advise customers, key account teams, sales teams, and bid teams on sustainability differentiators such as low-emission materials, decarbonised operations, circularity, biodiversity, and site-specific reporting capabilities.
• Monitor sustainability policies and tender developments across NCE markets, translating key implications into practical customer guidance and commercial positioning.
• Support account-specific sustainability value propositions for priority customers, including tailored messaging and materials for strategic engagements.
• Coordinate closely with Group Sustainability and relevant regional teams to ensure customer commitments, tender responses, and external communications remain consistent, credible, and commercially relevant.

Qualifications

In addition to a strong understanding of the key focus areas, the ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

• 3–5 years of experience in environmental sustainability, commercial sustainability, sustainability consulting, business development, energy, renewable energy, or a related role within a complex international organisation.
• Master’s degree in natural sciences, environmental engineering, environmental economics, sustainable business, or a related sustainability field.
• Strong commercial mindset, with the ability to translate sustainability topics into business value, customer messaging, and practical decision-making support.
• Experience working with EU and UK sustainability policy and regulatory frameworks relevant to NCE markets, including ETS/CBAM, the EU Critical and Strategic Raw Materials Act, NZIA, and emerging non-price criteria in renewable energy auctions.
• Experience supporting complex stakeholder processes, preferably involving sales, tenders, account teams, customers, or cross-functional project teams.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
