There is now enough data demonstrating that we are in a soil biodiversity crisis, as the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Conservation International recently released a report providing global information on soil-dependent species. The report identified approximately 8,653 soil-dependent species, with 1,758 (approximately 20.3%) globally threatened or at risk for extinction, and an additional 1,722 (approximately 19.9%) species lacking data.
