Announced by Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani at Reliance Industries’ Annual General Meeting, the ambitious initiative aims to transform a section of Mumbai into a vibrant ecological and recreational destination. Envisioned as the city’s own version of New York’s Central Park, the project will feature more than 60,000 trees, with 15,000 trees already planted, creating what Ambani described as a new “green lung” for India’s financial capital.

• One of its unique attractions will be a Tree Museum, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and educating visitors about plant diversity and conservation.

Drawing comparisons with some of the world’s most iconic public parks, Ambani said the vision is to create a landmark that becomes synonymous with Mumbai.

“What Central Park is to New York, Hyde Park to London, and the Botanic Gardens to Singapore, we hope the Coastal Road Gardens will be to Mumbai,” she said.

The project is being positioned as both a tribute to Mumbai’s resilient spirit and an investment in the city’s long-term environmental health.
