Powerwall is a small home battery that stores solar energy for dark or cloudy days, reducing dependency on the grid. Since its debut in April 2015, Tesla has provided many Powerwall versions. The Tesla Powerwall 2 differs from the original as it has a sleeker design, is easier to install, and is more user-friendly. This system has a continuous power rating of up to 5.8 kW and a peak power rating of up to 7 kW. The battery storage capacity of the Powerwall 2 and Powerwall+ is the same (13.5 kWh). However, the Powerwall+ adds an inverter for a simpler connection with solar PV panels. The Tesla Powerwall 3 is yet to be released.
It is possible to incorporate a Powerwall, or multiple Powerwalls, into your existing solar panel setup or a new Tesla solar roof. If you are choosing to purchase a Powerwall alongside a Tesla Solar System, the following price list applies:

To assist you in reducing your power costs, the Powerwall also features cost-saving modes. The 30% federal solar tax credit applies to Powerwalls and other battery systems, bringing the cost of a single unit down to $9,940 from $14,200. The powerwall must be used with solar panels, get 100% of its charge from solar panels for residential use, and receive 75% of its charge from solar panels for commercial use to qualify for these incentives.
Your state government or utility provider may provide extra solar tax exemptions or other financial advantages, depending on where you reside, before installing a Tesla Powerwall; research nearby incentives and the criteria for participation.
