Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Uttarakhand tops NITI Aayog’s SDG India Index. “I am pleased to inform you that, in the 2023-24 index of the Government of India’s NITI Aayog, Uttarakhand has ranked first in the entire country in achieving the goals of sustainable development,” Dhami said, speaking to a public gathering in Haridwar during the “Vikas Sankalp Parv” event. He credited this achievement to a balanced growth strategy, pointing out that the state’s progress is in line with both direction and pace, and that the unemployment rate has decreased by 4.4% above the national average. In addition, 107 projects, totaling Rs 550 crore, were inaugurated and their foundations laid at the occasion, marking a significant step towards regional development.

Dhami attributed that Uttarakhand tops NITI Aayog’s SDG India Index. a high position to a deliberate emphasis on striking a balance between ecological and economic interests, a goal backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. According to the NITI Aayog index, the state’s success is reflected in advancements in several important SDG categories, including infrastructure, education, and poverty alleviation. The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of the community at the Haridwar festival, visiting departmental stalls and garnering resounding public support. The 107 new projects, which range from public welfare programs to infrastructure, have the potential to improve sustainability and livelihoods. “Development is our priority, honesty is our identity, and public service is our resolve,” Dhami underlined, highlighting a governance model that combines social equality and growth, thereby becoming a standard for other governments.
