Key Responsibilities

What You’ll Do in This Role

• Carry out scheduled and ad-hoc accommodation audits across UAE vendor sites, ensuring alignment with Amazon’s Global Accommodation Compliance Guidance and applicable UAE regulations.
• Record audit findings, raise escalation tickets for critical issues, and prepare Corrective Action Plans in coordination with vendors.
• Monitor vendor remediation progress, review submitted compliance evidence, and escalate delays or non-responsive vendors to senior stakeholders.
• Track and analyse compliance metrics, prepare reports, and identify trends that require follow-up action.

Role Overview

The WHS Coordinator will be responsible for conducting planned and unplanned accommodation audits at assigned vendor sites across the UAE. These audits will be carried out in line with Amazon’s Global Accommodation Compliance Guidance and relevant local regulations, including UAE Ministerial Decision 591/2016 for accommodations housing fewer than 50 workers and Cabinet Resolution No. 13 of 2009 for accommodations housing 50 or more workers.

The audits will review all key compliance areas, including structural safety, minimum accommodation standards, health and safety requirements, fire safety, sanitation, dining facilities, recreational spaces, freedom of movement, and overall worker welfare.

The coordinator will accurately document audit outcomes in Amazon’s internal systems, raise escalation tickets for critical, alert, and major findings, and work with vendors to create and implement Corrective Action Plans. The role also involves regular vendor communication to arrange site visits, manage access approvals, and track corrective actions against agreed timelines.

The coordinator will assess evidence submitted by vendors to confirm closure of compliance issues and escalate unresolved or delayed actions to senior stakeholders when required.

In addition, the role will support ad-hoc audits triggered by safety incidents, new building assessments before peak hiring periods, worker complaints, and regulatory verification requests. The coordinator will also monitor compliance data, prepare reports, and review trends to identify areas that need improvement. As the programme develops, the role may expand to include additional responsibilities linked to Amazon’s wider worker welfare and social responsibility goals.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in workplace health and safety, compliance auditing, or a similar field.
• Willingness to travel frequently across UAE vendor accommodation sites.
• Valid UAE driving licence, or willingness to obtain one.
• Inter-city travel expenses will be reimbursed as per Amazon’s travel policy.
• Proficiency in English is required; Arabic language skills will be an added advantage.
• Experience in data analysis and metrics reporting to support compliance tracking and trend identification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience conducting social compliance, accommodation, or third-party vendor audits.
• Experience developing Corrective Action Plans and managing vendor remediation processes.
• Familiarity with UAE labour regulations and accommodation standards, including UAE Ministerial Decision 591/2016 and Cabinet Resolution No. 13 of 2009.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent WHS certification will be an advantage.
• Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination.
• Ability to communicate clearly with different stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and professional discussions.
