How You Will Contribute
EHS Leadership & Strategic Oversight: Serve as the primary EHS advisor for GT SU Romania, championing Siemens Energy’s Zero Harm vision and implementing the Grid Technologies EHS framework across the country. Provide guidance to leadership on EHS risks, performance trends, and improvement opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance & Management Systems: Ensure adherence to Romanian health, safety, and environmental regulations, Siemens Energy policies, and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. Track legislative developments and translate regulatory requirements into actionable measures for projects and operational sites through audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Risk Management & Workplace Safety: Lead the review and approval of risk assessments, Last Minute Risk Assessments (LMRA), method statements, and safety plans for activities involving substations, electrical installations, construction projects, and related operations. Verify that effective control measures are implemented and maintained across sites.
Incident Investigation & Continuous Learning: Manage the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Facilitate the communication of lessons learned and maintain accurate reporting within Siemens Energy’s EHS systems.
Environmental Stewardship: Oversee environmental compliance across operations, including waste management, emissions control, water and soil protection, and noise management. Promote sustainable practices and support initiatives aligned with Siemens Energy’s environmental objectives.
Training & Safety Culture Development: Coordinate mandatory EHS training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives. Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging leadership involvement, workforce engagement, and transparent reporting of hazards and incidents.
Contractor & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key EHS liaison for customers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities. Support contractor qualification, onboarding, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement efforts while participating in customer audits and EHS reviews.
Performance Analysis & Improvement: Track EHS KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, and performance trends. Use data-driven insights, audit findings, and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement and contribute to regional and global EHS initiatives within Grid Technologies.
What You Bring
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is considered an advantage.
Professional Experience: 7–10 years of EHS experience with leadership or coordination responsibilities, preferably within electrical infrastructure, substations, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments. Demonstrated success in implementing EHS management systems and advancing behavioral safety programs.
Certifications: Occupational Health and Safety certification in accordance with Romanian legislation, along with First Aid, CPR, AED, and Fire Safety training. Internal Auditor certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is preferred, while NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent international certifications are highly desirable.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of EHS regulations, electrical safety practices, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation processes. Experience with digital EHS tools, audit management systems, and reporting platforms is essential.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively across all organizational levels. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and a structured approach to decision-making.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in both Romanian and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
