Safety Health and Environment Manager Full Time

What You’ll Do

• Support the implementation of SHE programs and management systems to ensure environmental regulatory compliance across designated Henkel Americas facilities.
• Assist with SHEQ management systems, including OHSAS 18000 and ISO 14000 requirements.
• Manage compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Set priorities for safety and health investigations across different work areas and assign tasks accordingly.
• Define sampling priorities for the organisation and request the required budget resources to meet program goals.
• Develop and recommend engineering controls or process improvements to prevent workplace injuries and occupational illnesses.
• Conduct follow-up assessments to verify whether recommended corrective actions are effective.
• Prepare reports and recommendations independently, while also supporting other employees in developing technical reports.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams to address complex safety and health issues through coordinated solutions.
• Recommend equipment purchases, engineering controls, workspace layouts, and work process improvements.
• Identify training needs, develop new training programs when required, and oversee training delivery.
• Review industrial hygiene sampling strategies and results, and assist with strategy development and result interpretation when needed.
• Serve as an internal subject matter expert for safety-related concerns within the organisation.
• Identify injury and illness trends and work with relevant teams to reduce occupational risks.
• Collaborate with Operations, Risk Control, and other departments to lower workplace injury and illness rates.
• Develop and implement North America region-wide SHE policies, procedures, and programs with guidance from the Regional Director.
• Provide technical input to engineers for developing or improving engineering controls.
• Contribute to the design of new facilities where hazardous materials or hazardous processes will be present.
• Work with Facilities teams to create new safety committees or expand the scope of existing safety committee activities.
• Prepare management reports on safety investigations, evaluations, and safety management issues.
• Provide leadership and direction to professional and technical staff, while supporting their professional development.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, SARA, CWA, CAAA, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

What Makes You a Good Fit

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in SHE management functions and administration, preferably within the chemical industry.
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state SHE regulations.
• ASP or CSP certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or Visual Basic is an added advantage.
• Ability to work effectively with SHE teams, operations management, and plant staff.
• Strong problem-solving ability, including handling broad and complex safety and environmental challenges.
• Ability to apply innovative approaches and support change-driven improvements.
• Experience in emergency response, incident command training, and implementation.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, manage time, meet commitments, and handle travel and a demanding workload.
• Ability to assess business risk and factor it into decision-making.
• Understanding of cost-benefit analysis when evaluating safety and environmental solutions.
