You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, firmware, SCADA, and communication network issues that lead to downtime in Tesla’s Industrial Storage and Microgrid systems.
The role involves leveraging data analysis, fleet-level analytics, and first-principles engineering to identify failure patterns, define root causes, and deploy scalable solutions across the fleet.
You will lead cross-functional, data-driven initiatives aimed at improving system performance, working closely with program management, design engineering, field service, and technical support teams.
A key part of the role includes supporting the long-term reliability and sustainment of battery energy storage systems, including components such as power conversion systems, control systems, protection systems, and balance-of-plant equipment.
You will also manage escalated global customer issues to minimize downtime, improve system reliability, and ensure clear communication of root causes and resolutions to commercial and utility customers.
In addition, you will collaborate with field service and technical teams to develop technical documentation and training materials covering commissioning, operation, maintenance, and repair of Tesla’s industrial storage products worldwide.
The role may also involve developing test plans and leading troubleshooting or investigative work at customer sites, with occasional hands-on lab-based testing.
You should hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or possess equivalent practical experience.
A minimum of 2+ years of experience in areas such as product engineering, systems engineering, reliability engineering, commissioning, maintenance, or performance testing in power generation or energy storage systems is required.
Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, SQL, or similar platforms is essential for working with large datasets.
You must have strong technical expertise across at least two of the core engineering domains listed in the “Nice to Have” section.
The role requires excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple cross-functional teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to create clear technical documentation and diagrams.
You should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel domestically up to 5–10% and occasionally support urgent on-call customer requirements on a 24/7 basis is also expected.
