Energy Manager, Power Supply Full Time

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial relationships for a portfolio of data centers operating across multiple electricity markets in the United States, ensuring reliable and cost-effective energy supply.
• Represent the organization in regulatory proceedings and collaborate with utilities, market operators, and energy suppliers to influence rate structures and energy procurement solutions.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with utilities, regulators, policymakers, market participants, and other key stakeholders within the energy sector.
• Lead commercial negotiations for new energy capacity by evaluating multiple procurement scenarios, balancing business requirements, and optimizing long-term capacity planning.
• Structure and execute commercial agreements that secure new energy capacity while creating flexible options to support future business growth.
• Work closely with legal teams to develop, negotiate, and manage energy supply agreements that ensure reliable, sustainable, and economically competitive power for existing facilities.
• Collaborate with the Site Selection team to evaluate potential locations for new data centers based on electricity availability, grid infrastructure, and long-term energy requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams including data center operations, sustainability, policy, communications, engineering, construction, legal, and finance to support integrated energy planning.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the company’s energy procurement and supply strategy for data center operations.
• Monitor changes in energy markets, regulatory policies, transmission infrastructure, and emerging technologies, providing management with timely insights on opportunities and business risks.
• Lead and support strategic energy initiatives and special projects as required.
• Travel domestically as needed (approximately 25%) to support stakeholder engagement, project development, and business operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience managing commercial energy procurement, utility relationships, or large customer energy supply strategies.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with utilities, government agencies, regulators, suppliers, and executive leadership on commercial energy matters.
• Solid understanding of electricity transmission, distribution systems, utility interconnection processes, and energy market operations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating with cross-functional teams, utilities, consultants, and external stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain commercial, contractual, regulatory, and market-related concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, and other business analytics and documentation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and enhance business decision-making.
• Understanding of responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality assurance, and governance.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous AI skill development, including prompt engineering, AI agent orchestration, workflow automation, and emerging generative AI technologies.
