The importance of the 3Rs may have been repeatedly touted but for an excellent reason. It is the simplest, least expensive method of waste control.

The First R is for reduction. If you think about it, there are many things you don’t need when you go to the supermarket. I’m sure you can take your canvas bags instead of using disposable ones given to you. You can also buy eco-friendly materials like wood, jute, bamboo or biodegradable plastic products, which can be easily decomposed.
These simple acts will reduce the amount of plastic, which is very contaminating, and I’m sure that you don’t need to print out so many documents or photos nor leave lights, television or computer computers on when you’re not using them.
If you remember this, you’ll reduce the amount of paper and energy used, which will, in turn, help to reduce contamination.

The food industry is the number one contributor to plastic waste, but what is happening to that plastic? To eliminate that amount of plastic left behind by us is so robust that it takes about 500 years to biodegrade. That is why the technology offers an excellent alternative to replace plastic, which is fully compostable and anti-power. There are developed solutions that disintegrate and biodegrade within up to six months.
This magic material is polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) or polylactic acid (PLA), a compostable, biodegradable alternative to plastic. PLA is derived from fermented plant starch (usually corn), while PHA is a type of biopolymer produced by microorganisms through the fermentation of organic materials.
These plastic-like materials mimic the tenacity and functionality of plastic while also being able to break down into two small parts. The small parts are eaten by bacteria that recreate the compost; all the while, the material imitates conventional plastic polypropylene and polyethene.
