How Will NASA Build the Moon Base?

  • Repurposing Lunar Gateway Components: NASA has canceled the construction of the Lunar Gateway, a space station that will be placed in orbit around the Moon, utilizing the components for the $20 billion surface base, which will be done with the help of contractors such as Northrop Grumman and Lanteris Space Systems.
  • Robotic Landers and Drones: The plan also includes sending more robotic landers and drones that will help in maintaining the Moon Base.
  • Use of Nuclear Power: NASA also aims to include nuclear power in the Moon Base, which will provide continuous power for the operations of the base, which has only been available on Earth until now.

How Will the Artemis Program Adjust to Contractor Challenges?
