While outlining plans to increase the capacity of renewable energy sources and reach significant sustainability milestones, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined that the nation’s energy sector is essential to the nation’s growth aspirations. During India Energy Week 2025, Modi stated virtually that experts throughout the world agree that India is the rightful owner of the twenty-first century. He pointed out that India’s energy industry is a major factor in this transition, which is driving both domestic and global economic growth.
The prime minister outlined the five essential elements of India’s energy vision: strategic geography, innovation promotion, economic might with political stability, harnessing resources, and a dedication to global sustainability.
He emphasized that the nation will exceed a number of significant milestones in the next five years and that the next two decades will be critical to reaching “Viksit Bharat” (developed India).
Renewable Energy Targets and Sustainability Goals
Modi reaffirmed India’s grand goal of having Indian Railways achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 and installing 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity. He acknowledged that these objectives might seem lofty, but he was certain that India would achieve them, pointing to the country’s notable advancements over the previous ten years.
India Energy Week 2025 is a four-day event that began on Tuesday with the goal of bringing together experts, innovators, and leaders in the industry from all over the world. In terms of ministerial and CEO involvement, exhibition area, and the number of sessions, it will be the second-largest energy event in the world, occupying more than 100,000 square meters. During the event, energy buyers are anticipated to meet with producers in the nation’s capital.

Global Collaboration and Clean Energy Initiatives
India Energy Week 2025 will be bigger and more varied than in previous years, according to Union Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Puri stated at a press conference the night before the event that the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas will hold a Clean Cooking Ministerial, which will bring together experts, industry leaders, and international policymakers to hasten the shift to clean cooking solutions.
As an example of international adoption, the event will also showcase India’s accomplishments through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). It seeks to ensure that cooking energy is accessible, affordable, and clean for households around the world by fostering international cooperation, advancing policy debates, and facilitating technology sharing.
