Researchers from National Taiwan University and the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) in Chennai, India, have created a photocatalytic device that uses sunlight to transform carbon dioxide (CO2) into sustainable fuels, marking a revolutionary step in the fight against climate change. A Breakthrough in Photocatalytic Technology
India and Taiwan join forces on a Solar Tech and the creation of the ZnS/ZIS heterostructure photocatalyst, which was designed using a straightforward one-pot hydrothermal process, is the primary focus of this study. A strain-induced direct Z-scheme method that significantly increases CO2 conversion efficiency was presented by Professor Indrajit Shown of HITS and Dr. Li-Chyong Chen’s group at National Taiwan University. This novel method represents a significant advancement in green chemistry since it increases conversion efficiency by an astounding 200 times compared to previous ZnS-based methods.
