Bengaluru residents should brace themselves for a week of severe rain, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), which predicts wet weather will continue throughout the city. Bengaluru has seen a maximum temperature of 25.4°C and a minimum of 20.7°C in the last 24 hours, with 3.3 mm of rain. A ‘yellow alert’ has been predicted for several sections of Karnataka, notably coastal areas, indicating heavy rains in Bengaluru in the coming days.

Heavy Rains in Bengaluru: Predictions

The IMD anticipates heavy rains in Bengaluru to continue throughout the week, with a gloomy sky from October 14 to October 17. According to the seven-day forecast:

October 15: The highest temperature is forecast to be 25°C, with a low of 21°C. Heavy rainfall and gloomy skies are expected, particularly in Bengaluru and neighbouring areas.

October 16: Temperatures may rise slightly, reaching a high of 26°C. However, severe rains are anticipated to continue. Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Mysuru, and Ramanagara are all on high alert for possible flooding and disruptions.

October 17: Downpours will persist, with a maximum temperature of 27°C. No significant decline in rainfall is expected throughout this time.

Rainfall intensity will decrease significantly by October 18, with lighter showers predicted. Temperatures will be consistent, with a high of 28°C and a low of 21°C. By October 19 and 20, Bengaluru is expected to see regular showers continue, although the possibility of severe rain will be reduced.

Statewide Rainfall Alerts and Precautions

Heavy rain warnings have been issued throughout Karnataka, particularly in the coastal and interior districts. On October 15, scattered heavy to very heavy rains are forecast in districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and parts of South Interior Karnataka, including Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mandya, and Mysuru.

The situation will endure on October 16, with coastal Karnataka continuing to get heavy rain. Districts in North Interior Karnataka, including Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri, will also get substantial rainfall. On October 17, heavy rain will reach South Interior Karnataka, hitting areas like Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, Kodagu, and Ramanagara. Residents in these locations are asked to be informed about weather conditions and take appropriate measures to guarantee their safety, especially in low-lying or flood-prone areas. With extensive rainfall warnings in effect, citizens are asked to keep informed about changing weather conditions and to take appropriate precautions, particularly in regions prone to flooding and interruptions.
