Karma Automotive, based in Southern California and formed in 2014, is gradually working towards industry relevance—the critical word being slowly. The company’s current portfolio contains the GS-6 sedan, which comes in three variants, each with a different powerplant. The Luxury Time costs $95,000, while the electric car Karma GS-6 Sport costs $105,000. The 2022 Karma GS-6 will start at $85,000 as well.

Engine, Transmission and Performance
Every electric car Karma GS-6 has a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes a BMW-sourced turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that serves as a generator for the sedan’s two rear-mounted electric motors. They produce a total of 536 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque.
According to Karma, this configuration allows the sedan to expedite from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The more expensive electric car, the Karma GS-6 Sport, has an additional 74 pound-feet of torque and a revised tune, which decreases the advertised zero-to-60-mph time to 3.9 seconds. Standard wheels are 21 inches, with 22 inches available as an option.
Range, Charging and Battery Life
The all-electric, rear-drive GSe-6 will be powered by a battery pack with a functional capacity of 103 kWh, allowing it to go over 300 miles. While we have yet to determine how long it will take to charge, we know it will support rapid charging. The battery in the plug-in hybrid models provides 54 to 61 miles of pure electric driving, depending on wheel size.
According to Karma, their battery can be recharged from 5 to 95 per cent in 4 hours with a 240-volt outlet and in 34 minutes with a 480-volt DC fast charger.
Fuel Efficiency and Real-World MPG
According to official projections, those who choose the more prominent 22-inch wheels on the GS-6 or Revero GT will achieve a lower MPGe rating. The electric car Karma GS-6 with 21-inch wheels achieves 70 MPGe, but the larger rollers reduce that amount to 62 MPGe.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 10.2-inch touchscreen is installed in the centre of the Karma sedan’s dashboard and serves as the control centre for its infotainment system. The unit can accept over-the-air upgrades and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Karma app also allows users to remotely lock and unlock the vehicle’s doors, view the charging timetable, and engage the preconditioning system.
