Human Toll and Rescue Operations

At least 15 individuals have died in the Dehradun cloudburst and the landslides that followed, while 16 more are still unaccounted for. Thirteen bodies have been found in Dehradun, one in Pithoragarh, and one in Nainital, according to the State Disaster Management Authority. Several stranded citizens were successfully rescued by search and rescue personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, and the fire department despite challenging weather conditions.

• Casualties: 16 people are missing, and 15 deaths have been confirmed.
• Stranded people rescued: NDRF and SDRF crews rescued the majority of the stranded individuals.

The disaster’s financial impact has been significant; damages in several sectors are believed to have exceeded ₹10 crore. The floods mostly damaged infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and embankments, while agricultural losses severely burdened impacted towns.

• Road connectivity: Rapid clearance work is being given priority after landslides occurred at nine locations along the Sahastradhara–Karligad road.
• Power restoration: To minimize disturbance in impacted areas, CM Dhami instructed officials to make sure power lines are restored as soon as possible.
• Rehabilitation: For displaced families, short-term financial assistance has been announced, with continued evaluation for additional support.
• Field surveys: To speed up compensation and reconstruction activities, damage checks are being conducted.
