At the Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 at SRM University-AP, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared Hydrogen Valley in Amaravati to advance green energy, taking a daring step towards a clean energy future. This declaration highlights the state’s goal to spearhead India’s shift to sustainable energy via green hydrogen innovation, investment, and talent development. In line with the Andhra Pradesh Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Policy, which aims to generate 750,000 jobs in the green hydrogen ecosystem, Naidu emphasized the conference as a historic opportunity to bring together international experts, decision-makers, and business leaders to promote affordable clean energy alternatives.

Vision for Sustainability and Economic Growth

According to Naidu, the project puts Andhra Pradesh at the front of India’s clean energy revolution and marks a significant step towards creating a circular economy and safeguarding the environment. The centre of this change will be Hydrogen Valley in Amaravati to advance green energy, which will propel research, development, and commercialisation.

Union Minister Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani emphasized the significance of investment and policy, while Dr. V.K. Saraswat of NITI Aayog highlighted the value of green hydrogen in achieving carbon neutrality. K. Vijayanand, the Chief Secretary, emphasized the importance of skill development and the critical role that colleges like SRM AP play in this regard. Discussions to promote hydrogen technology across industries are part of the summit, which is being organised in collaboration with IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, MNRE, NREDCAP, and SRMIST, Tamil Nadu.

Educational and Innovation Initiatives

Prof. D Narayana Rao revealed that SRM University-AP will create an Innovation Centre for Green Hydrogen Technologies, further solidifying the state’s commitment. Furthermore, Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan presented plans for the SRM Institute of Emerging Technology to establish a Department of Energy Engineering, aiming to educate the next generation of leaders in sustainable energy.

In addition to the summit’s emphasis on R&D and industrial engagement, these educational initiatives seek to develop specialised knowledge. In addition to promising economic growth and environmental benefits for Andhra Pradesh, the event, attended by leaders including Dr. Saraswat and Dr. Pemmasani, highlights a cooperative strategy for scaling up green hydrogen production.
