A Milestone in Waste Management and Sustainability

APSEZ’s strict waste management practices are demonstrated as Adani ports achieve Zero Waste to Landfill Certification for 12 ports. The program reflects the company’s commitment to addressing all kinds of waste and reducing its impact on landfills. Nearly 300 tonnes of plastic garbage, or the weight of about 100 elephants, have been recycled, reused, or repurposed by APSEZ in the last 12 months. This accomplishment highlights APSEZ’s contribution to lowering environmental pollution and aligns with the global #BeatPlasticPollution effort. With the commissioning of 225 MW of renewable energy, the corporation has also set an ambitious goal to reach Net Zero emissions by 2040. By switching to clean energy, APSEZ is demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development and climate action while ensuring its activities have a beneficial environmental impact.

Global Recognition and Future Commitments

The international community has taken notice of APSEZ’s sustainability initiatives. With an overall ESG score of 68 out of 100, the company placed in the 97th percentile of its industry and won the top spot in the Environment dimension of the 2024 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for the second year. Additionally, CDP gave the corporation an “A-” rating in the 2024 climate change and water security evaluations, which was its first time entering the water security leadership band. With a low-risk ESG rating of 13.7 and the top ranking in low carbon transition, Sustainalytics further confirmed APSEZ’s leadership in the port industry and ranked it in the top ten for marine ports. APSEZ’s ‘Prime’ rating from ISS ESG and its participation in the Nifty 100 ESG Index demonstrate its attractiveness for ethical investing portfolios. In an attempt to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the Adani Mundra Cluster—which consists of APSEZ Mundra Port, Adani New Industries Ltd., and Ambuja Cements Ltd.—joined the World Economic Forum’s ‘Transitioning Industrial Clusters’ program. With 4,240 hectares of mangroves planted and 2,915 hectares preserved, APSEZ also supports nature-based solutions. Mangroves function as carbon sinks and shield nearby populations from severe weather conditions. The accomplishments of APSEZ serve as a potent reminder of the positive effects that committed corporate action can have on the environment as the globe commemorates Environment Day. By promoting sustainable practices that open the door to a more resilient and ecologically conscious society, the company keeps inviting communities and stakeholders to contribute to creating a cleaner, greener future.
