Team Lead – Environment Full Time

Responsibilities

• Project delivery: Manage projects from inception to completion, providing technical leadership and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs in collaboration with internal US colleagues.
• Department representation: Act as the key representative and visible face of the India-based Environmental department.
• Local compliance: Oversee local health and safety, employee welfare, risk management, information security, assessments, and compliance requirements.
• Programme and financial management: Lead project, programme, and financial management activities to ensure delivery against agreed objectives.
• Vision and values: Promote WSP’s Vision and Values across the team and daily operations.
• Charter alignment: Actively promote the Australian E&E GCC Charter and ensure the team delivers on its commitments.
• Multidisciplinary coordination: Interface with multidisciplinary project teams to support integrated project delivery.
• Technical deliverables: Supervise the preparation, review, and checking of documents, reports, and other technical outputs across environmental disciplines.
• Team leadership: Provide visible, inspiring leadership to the GCC Environment teams and ensure alignment with the broader Australia business.
• Professional development: Support team members in progressing toward professional accreditation or equivalent recognition.
• Performance reviews: Conduct staff appraisals and performance development reviews, providing constructive feedback and growth guidance.
• Recruitment and growth: Lead recruitment activities to achieve planned and budgeted team growth.
• Capability monitoring: Review team capability in required standards, processes, and software tools, and identify training needs with technical colleagues.
• Upskilling and capability building: Identify opportunities to upskill current resources or recruit new skills to expand services and strengthen delivery.
• Service expansion: Identify additional capabilities that can be brought into the GCC to enhance environmental service offerings.
• Quality management: Ensure quality procedures are properly implemented, maintained, and continuously improved.
• Performance improvement: Seek regular feedback on team performance and convert criticism into improvement opportunities through lessons learned and corrective actions.
• Client relationships: Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships to support repeat business and client satisfaction.
• Bid support: Contribute to bids, proposals, and marketing materials.
• Operational process design: Support the design of operational processes, systems, quality measurement methods, and performance KPI frameworks.
• Design coordination: Ensure designs and outputs consider applicable Health & Safety, CDM, and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Standards interpretation: Interpret statutory and industry requirements, standards, and best practices and apply them to strategies and policies.
• Quality reviews: Review adherence to quality processes and implement corrective measures where needed.
• Safety and technical excellence: Lead the local Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Information Security agenda while developing technical excellence through training, mentoring, project reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Australian project delivery: Track record as a senior technical leader delivering Australian projects for at least 5 years.

• Technical leadership: Strong technical management capability combined with business acumen and leadership skills.
• English proficiency: Excellent spoken and written English.
• Australian experience: Prior Australian experience is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Educational background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a relevant environmental discipline.
• Professional status: Professional or Chartered Engineer status, or relevant equivalent recognition in Australia.
• Experience level: Seasoned professional with at least 15 years of diverse experience delivering environmental services within a consulting engineering environment.
