Project Lead (Water and Wastewater) Full Time

You Will Be Responsible for the Following

• The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong experience in balancing technical expertise with people management, while encouraging teamwork and motivating the team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Prepare and manage Engineering Project Plans, covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource requirements.
• Lead design meetings, review project outputs including 3D models, and ensure actions are tracked and completed on time.
• Apply project quality procedures and promote ongoing improvement in processes and deliverables.
• Oversee the integration of supplier designs and ensure they align with overall project objectives.
• Provide line management to a multidisciplinary team, including performance oversight and development planning.
• Build a culture that values integrity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Allocate resources across multiple projects effectively, based on priorities and complexity.
• Encourage collaboration, emotional intelligence, and teamwork, while promoting health, safety, and wellbeing in both design and project delivery.
• Ensure design risk assessments are completed and that any residual risks are clearly communicated.
• Drive stronger CDM compliance and contribute to improving the overall safety culture.
• Identify project risks and opportunities, and implement suitable mitigation or improvement strategies.
• Apply sustainable development principles throughout the entire project lifecycle.
• Support efforts to enhance the six capitals through engineering-related work.
• Assist in developing project programmes that meet milestones and delivery targets.
• Manage team outputs to ensure work is completed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
• Look for opportunities to improve cost-effectiveness through innovative design solutions.

Candidate Specification

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; a Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering design, with at least 5 years in roles involving greater responsibility and more complex projects.
• Chartered Engineer status, or progress toward achieving a professional qualification, is preferred.
• Good understanding of British, European, and other international engineering standards and practices.
• Preferred experience includes UK municipal projects, as well as water and wastewater treatment projects in Southeast Asia, the Pacific, the United States, or the Middle East, especially non-infrastructure treatment projects.
• A proactive mindset and the ability to adapt effectively to changing circumstances.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and communications successfully.
• Experience working on municipal treatment projects.
• Experience in delivering complex multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Mentoring and team development capability.
• Experience working within an international design consultancy environment.
• Strong technical expertise, with the ability to innovate and lead by example.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and monitoring project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Excellent knowledge of current international codes, standards, and regulations.
• Previous experience in preparing fee proposals and bid submissions.
• Proficiency in IT tools and standard industry software, including BIM knowledge.
• Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally in English, both in writing and verbally, with clients and colleagues at all levels.
